Mr. Higbee began his professional career as a trial attorney assigned to a courtroom where he handled non-specially assigned felonies. After one year as a courtroom APA, he was promoted to the Repeat Offenders Bureau where he prosecuted repeat offenders who were charged with murder, armed robbery, and criminal sexual conduct. After six years prosecuting violent offenders, Mr. Higbee became a supervising attorney in the Trial Division where he managed a team of trial attorneys and their cases. In 2004, Mr. Higbee retired from the Prosecutors Office as the Deputy Chief of the Trial Division. He joined FLCS in 2005 and has been a member of defense teams that have won not guilty verdicts in cases such as homicide, assault with intent to murder, failure to report child abuse, and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He has helped to gain the pre-trial dismissal of cases involving murder, armed robbery, bank robbery, and kidnapping.
