Previous Experience:
Mr. Dakmak has a passion for pursuing some of the most difficult trials and issues. As a cold-case homicide prosecutor in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, he convicted a defendant for a 33-year-old murder. In 2004, he moved to the Attorney General’s Office and became Director of Legislative Affairs and Section Head of Treasury and Gaming Section of the Criminal Division. As Section Head in the Criminal Division, he supervised attorneys handling the prosecution of state tax matters and mortgage fraud. Over his impressive career, Mr. Dakmak has prosecuted approximately 50 felony jury trials. Of those, 40 involved capital offenses and 25 involved the charge of murder.
Since entering private practice, Mr. Dakmak acted as co-counsel in a Criminal Sexual Conduct case. After several days of deliberation the jury returned a verdict of not guilty. Mr. Dakmak was also co-counsel in a murder case that resulted in a hung jury. Mr. Dakmak has successfully argued numerous constitutional issues before Michigan’s courts resulting in the exoneration of many of his clients.
Mr. Dakmak has extensive trial experience handling complex white-collar criminal matters such as fraud and tax evasion along with commercial and employment litigation in the Michigan and federal courts.
